Get to Know our Vice President, John DuRocher

Mr. DuRocher was elected to serve as Vice President for the school board during the June 2024 board meeting. Mr. DuRocher has been a part of The Waldorf School of DuPage’s story since the beginning (thanks to his wife Barbara- one of our founding teachers). Until recently, he’s been happy to be in the background playing a supportive and ever-encouraging role. His two children (Sarah and Joe) attended our school and he was an active and helpful class parent. He even helped hang the drywall in our current building when it was being transformed from a Plumbers Union into what we know it to be today.

Mr. DuRocher brings gifts, talents, and expertise to our community including experience as a city manager and an impressive educational background featuring a master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialty in city management with an emphasis on fiscal administration. He is also a veteran and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He clearly as a heart for service and a generous spirit.

As a leader, Mr. DuRocher managed cities by hiring good people and letting them do their jobs. We can expect a consistent experience here, while he serves as Vice President. When asked about his leadership approach, Mr. DuRocher said, “My approach is collaboration in setting the goals and offering guidance as needed. By laying a foundation of trust with high expectations, people will do amazing things.”

Mr. DuRocher is excited and optimistic about the future of the school. He’s confident in our faculty and staff feels the school is heading in a “wonderful” direction. We happen to agree on that one! Welcome to the spotlight Mr. DuRocher! We are excited to have you and look forward to collaborating with you as we create the future of WSD!
