Patrick Stinson- Board Member + Development Chair

The Waldorf School of DuPage is excited to welcome Patrick Stinson as a new board member and the chair of the development committee. Patrick, a dedicated parent and business owner, brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit fundraising and event organization to his new role. In addition to his work with the school, Patrick owns The Bit Theater in Aurora, Illinois—a space that celebrates community, creativity, and the performing arts.

Though Patrick never experienced Waldorf education as a student, he often reflects on how much he wishes he had. Like many parents, Patrick has seen the profound impact Waldorf education has had on his own children, Aurora and Phoenix. The unique approach of having students stay with the same teacher from 1st through 8th grade has made a lasting impression on him, and he is especially drawn to the way stories are used as teaching tools. This method has already helped his kindergartener and 2nd grader visualize learning in a new and meaningful way. As a self-described technology immigrant, Patrick also values the way Waldorf allows children to grow without being burdened by excessive screen time, much like how he grew up.

What Patrick Brings to WSD as Chair of Development

Patrick is no stranger to leadership roles. With his extensive background in fundraising for nonprofits and organizing events, he is well-prepared to help guide Waldorf School of DuPage toward continued success. In his new position as chair of the development committee, Patrick is eager to work alongside other passionate parents and educators to ensure that WSD thrives both financially and communally.

He is particularly excited to collaborate with the WSD community to raise funds and host events that will help strengthen the school. Patrick believes that together, the school can build a legacy that will make students proud to say they attend THE Waldorf School of DuPage. His goal is to contribute to a lasting impact that extends far beyond academics, creating an environment where families feel as valued as the students themselves.

What Patrick Loves About WSD

Patrick’s love for WSD comes from a deep appreciation of its mission and values. He is especially drawn to the school’s commitment to providing the best education possible for its students while ensuring that the entire family is supported along the way. For Patrick, this community-driven, holistic approach is what sets Waldorf apart from other schools.

He is also fond of the school’s events, such as the recent Festival of Courage and the annual 5K, which provide opportunities for families to come together and strengthen their bonds. Patrick sees these moments as vital to building the kind of tight-knit community that Waldorf is known for.

A Glimpse into Patrick’s Personal Side

Patrick’s personal life is a full one, shared with his wife, Anna Sutton, and their two daughters, Phoenix and Aurora. They are also the proud owners of a dog named Sir Francis Bacon, an 11-year-old black lab and chow mix who is very much a part of the family. His love for his family and his passion for creating meaningful connections are values that guide his involvement with WSD.

His favorite color is a blue with a greyish tint, a calming and balanced shade that reflects his own approach to life. His favorite song, "Man in the Mirror," speaks to the importance of self-reflection and personal growth—concepts that align perfectly with Waldorf’s focus on nurturing the whole child.

As for his favorite season, Patrick loves fall, despite the allergies that come with it. He finds joy in the crisp air and the sense of change that comes with the season. His favorite flower, the sunflower, represents brightness and growth—traits he admires in both his own children and the students at WSD. And when it comes to food, Patrick enjoys a hearty prime rib, a classic dish with substance, much like the education he values for his children.

Looking Forward

In his new role as a board member and chair of the development committee, Patrick is enthusiastic about the future of Waldorf School of DuPage. His vision is to work collaboratively with the WSD community to create opportunities that will not only benefit current students but also set a strong foundation for generations to come. Patrick is committed to ensuring that WSD remains a place where families grow, children flourish, and the entire community thrives.

With his leadership, passion, and experience, Patrick Stinson is ready to help guide Waldorf School of DuPage toward a bright and successful future.

Welcome aboard, Patrick! We are thrilled to have you!
